Welcome to Kayla’s Corner — a little space for art, teaching, and the details that make a home feel right. Kayla is our resident creative: an art teacher, exhibiting artist, and the family’s eye for color, composition and flow.
Teaching
Kayla has taught art with Norfolk City Public Schools for the past eight years. Along the way she was nominated for Teacher of the Year 2026 and named to the Norfolk Public Schools All-City Teaching Team (2026–2027) — a district honor recognizing educators who best exemplify the ideals of the profession.
She also offers one-on-one tutoring, giving students personal guidance to grow their skills at their own pace.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Old Dominion University and is an alumnus of the Norfolk Public Schools art program she now teaches in.
Art & exhibitions
As a working artist, Kayla has had multiple exhibits at the Chrysler Museum. She’s familiar with most mediums and brings a remarkable attention to detail to every piece she creates.
Home & design
That artist’s eye carries over into the home. Kayla is great at spotting design changes that make a space work better — rethinking storage and layout to create a natural flow and get more out of the room you already have.
